Summer Pre-School
Vienna

Choose between the Preschool-Week or the Primary-School Preperation Week

July 2026: The Preschool Summer Week (for children starting school in 2027) and the Primary School Preparation Week (for children starting school in 2026) are back! In small groups, children are playfully prepared for school – with language development, number sense, creativity, independence, and first English lessons. This way, they begin their next stage of life with joy, curiosity, and confidence.

The Preschool Summer Week follows the Austrian preschool curriculum and supports children through playful, holistic learning:

  • Language & Communication:
Expansion of vocabulary through stories, conversations, rhymes, and listening activities. Children are gently introduced to first sounds and letters in a playful, age-appropriate way.

  • Numbers & Logical Thinking:
Developing early mathematical understanding through counting, recognizing quantities, sorting, comparing, and exploring first number concepts using hands-on materials and games.

  • Fine & Gross Motor Skills:
Strengthening fine motor skills through pencil grip exercises, cutting, gluing, and creative tasks, combined with movement games, balancing activities, and coordination exercises to support overall body awareness.

  • Social Skills:
Encouraging independence, positive group behavior, consideration for others, turn-taking, and guided conflict resolution within a supportive and respectful group setting.

  • Creativity & Expression:
Opportunities for self-expression through painting, crafting, making music, and free creative work, allowing children to explore ideas, emotions, and imagination in a safe environment.

  • Curiosity & Understanding the World:
Fostering curiosity through observing, asking questions, conducting small experiments, and exploring age-appropriate topics connected to everyday life and the children’s interests.

  • First Experiences with English:
Playful exposure to English through songs, greetings, colors, numbers, and simple words, naturally integrated into daily routines without pressure or performance expectations.

The Primary School Preparation Week is designed to build on the requirements of primary school and prepare children in depth:

  • Language & Writing:
Strengthening phonological awareness through recognizing sounds and dividing words into syllables, practicing correct letter formation, and writing first words with increasing confidence and structure.

  • Math & Thinking:
Developing solid number understanding up to 30, decomposing quantities, exploring first calculations, and working with number lines, patterns, and grids to support logical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • English:
Building basic communicative skills through asking and answering simple questions, short dialogues, learning vocabulary such as colors and animals, following craft instructions, and understanding everyday classroom instructions in a playful yet structured way.

  • Social Learning:
Supporting children in completing tasks independently while learning to work cooperatively in a group, strengthening frustration tolerance, respecting rules, and practicing how to ask meaningful questions and seek help appropriately.

  • Work Habits & Structure:
Introducing structured work routines through work plans, improving focus and attention span, taking responsibility for tasks, reflecting on one’s own work, and building confidence in independent learning.

  • Creativity & Expression:
Engaging in structured creative projects and small presentations, expressing thoughts and feelings through art, and allowing space for free and imaginative work to encourage creativity and the development of new ideas.
